Thank you! I long ago decided that it doesn't really matter what people think about me, as long as the ones I love are happy.

I will keep y'all posted. I may post the mp3's somewhere (well, not all of them… the one I composed is a bit personal…), and if so, I'll provide a link.

Well, just finished the final vocals!

He's bringing over the finished product tomorrow night, and we're exchanging presents on Christmas Eve.

The songs went through a slight change, and the ones to be included (not sure about the line-up) are:

    1: Heart and Soul
2: Red is the Rose & Loch Lomond
    3: Black is the Colour
4: My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose
    5: The Braes O' Balquihidder
6: O' A' the Airts (with improvised instrumentals)

I tell ya, Greg is amazing. The music for Red is The Rose/Loch Lomond sounds like I hired the LA Philharmonic, the piano for Heart and Soul was done (mostly improv) by a brilliant young pianist he knows, and Black is the Colour is haunting and melancholic - just the way it should be ("The great gaels of Ireland are the men the God made mad / for all their wars are merry and all their songs are sad," as G. K. Chesterton said).

The music for Braes and Red, Red Rose I haven't heard, because of computer difficulties, but he played the versions that inspired him and his will be bloody well amazing.

I can't wait to see my girlfriend's face

I recorded a CD for my dad last year. He loved it! I'm sure Amanda will love your CD too.

    Well…

Greg brought the disc over on the 24th, and I listened to the whole thing.

Bloody amazing, and the music he wrote wasn't that bad either

I wrapped it up, along with some truffles, a sweater, and a hand-knit scarf I had got, and that afternoon we exchanged presents. She got me exactly what I wanted: Socrates Meets Machiavelli, by Peter Kreeft. An awesome book that I highly recommend. But I digress, as is my wont.

Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to talk to her yet and get her reaction to the music, since she spent Christmas Day with her family and is currently travelling to Northern California to spend time with her grandmother.

After I see her next, I'll let y'all know what she thought of the singing. Her reaction to the my giving it to her, though, would make you all blush, so I'll refrain from saying any more about it.
