A said day in the Irish folk music world

Well folks, Tommy Makem died today of cancer at the age of 74. the article
Wierd thing is, I mentioned this to my piping instructor tonight, and, he actually performed with him in the 70's. My instructor even had an album he did, with Tommy guest singing a song. Small, small world. But, I wanted to share this sad news with you all.

He's singing with Tom & Paddy in a smoky pub somewhere, a half-finished pint on the stool beside him. I'm quite sure it's a joyful reunion.

Here's a brimming parting glass to you Tommy; thanks for all of the tunes over all of the years.

    Tommy Makem

I am very sad to hear of the death of Tommy Makem, he was a great performer with the Clancy Brothers.
I last saw Tommy in concert singing solo a few years ago in Cumbernauld Theatre, Scotland where he sang his own song 'Four Green Fields', brilliant.

May he rest in peace, amen

Surly will be missed. 4 green fields (in case you haven't heard it) is a WONDERFUL song that could bring a grown man to tears.
