    We're getting there!

My pipe band - Stillwater Pipe Band of Stillwater, OK - marched in our local Christmas parade yesterday. It's a fun event, with 30-40 entries each year. It's called the "Parade of Lights" and each entry must be lighted up; lots of people go all out with this, some of the floats look like they need their own generators.

It was our third year to march. The first year, we were dreadful. Last year, we were very bad.

    This year?

We got second place in the band category, beating out the local HS band!

It's so exciting to see progress. Next year?

We're going to bring all our dogs along and place in the "Animal" category as well.

So how do you light up a set of pipes??
I remember marching in prades when I was in the High School Marching Bands. Don't know anything worse than marching in cold weather with a brass sousaphone over your shoulder~maybe except cold WET weather!

No pics from this year - our photographer was busy and couldn't make it.
Here are some pics from last year.

We light the pipes with battery-powered strings of LED Christmas lights; we use black pipe cleaners to attach them.

Oh, and this was the first year that it was above freezing for the parade, so we were VERY happy about that.

Nice. We use fiber optic string lights wrapped around our snares that are sound activated. Works great. We're marching again in the Chesapeake Rotary Christmas Parade tomorrow in Chesapeake, VA.
