NYC Kilt Night for St. Patrick's Day

This might seem a bit early, but, since the parade this year is going to be held on a Monday (), I'd like to propose that our gathering be held the day before, Sunday, March 16th.

In keeping with the spirit of honoring our Gaelic brethren, would people enjoy returning to the Irish pub by Penn Station? I would suggest meeting about 4 P.M. that day.

I shall be offline for a good part of February, so speak up, folks, and we'll sort out the consensus upon my return.

I would say yes but I would say that stouts would more then likely be swamped that whole weekend.

    Question

I checked their website and can't find any info for March yet. Do you know what time that the bands will be starting? If it's late, we might be able to get space for our thing, and then people can stay for the shows.

Your right, they haven't put anything on the site yet. I called them directly. The young lady couldn't give me too many specifics but they have special events all weekend including the Ireland vs. England Rugby match which they expect to show both live and taped to accommodate those who can't get in for the live showing. Since Stouts is known for being a bit pushy when it comes to turning tables anyway, I'll pass on what is likely their busiest weekend.

I dont know if people have their hearts set on that day. But if they do I would sugjest going down town away from some of the tourist crowd, were we could have are pick of a bunch of pubs that would not be crowded at at all. Swifts, Puck Fair, Ryans, Saint Marks Ale House, (littel touristy).

And then's there's Bua's in the East Village, if you don't need a full dinner menu, and the Telephone on 2nd Ave, if you do. Count me in...

And this shall be for music, when no one else is near; The fine song for singing, the rare song to hear; That only I remember, that only you admire; Of the broad road that stretches and the roadside fire. (RL Stevenson)

    I'm in

Sounds like fun to me. I'm new and I'd love to meet some folks in the world.
Downtown sounds like a good choice as well. Last year mid-town was insane.

Any of the aforementioned bars sound good to me.
