another new member in North Carolina

Hello, one and all. I just joined XMarks; got my first kilt about a year and a half ago, and still wear them primarily to Celtic and Scottish events. It's not that I have any hesitancy about wearing a kilt in public- it's just that I'm an avid motorcyclist, and can't figure out how to wear the kilt while riding! I'm located in Granite Falls (5 miles N of Hickory), and usually attend the Highland games at Grandfather, Loch Norman, and Greensboro plus a few others each year. I may ask a dumb question or two later, but I'm all in favor of more comfort- and breezes!

Welcome aboard Hazard. I'm sure if there's one place to get advice on riding motorcycles in a kilt, it will be from someone here.
Madame, rarely will you meet a more prejudiced man nor one who tells himself he keeps his mind more open. But cannot that be because one part of our mind, that which we act with, becomes prejudiced through experience and still we keep another part completly open to observe and judge with?

You can wear a kilt while riding a motorcycle just as easily as you can wear shorts. Just be careful with fly-ups of the apron though.

I don't recommend it though, any more than I would shorts. There is a reason bikers wear all that leather, and it's not because it looks tough! After seeing one person slide his bike down the pavement (or experiencing it yourself!) you learn to wear plenty of protection.
Lose something valuable to you and don't know who can help?

Call the Retrieval Team at 1-***-GETRBAK and we'll get it back for you.
