    Another newb.

Posting an intro in my 3rd post isn't a bad thing, right?

I am a 32 yr old woman who is married to her post-High School sweetie (11+ yrs. now). We are vegan, Pagan, and have 3 homeschooling kids and 4 fur-kids (3 mischievous cats and a hyper beagle)... My dh is of Scots' descent and I love a man in a kilt (rrwwarr!), so here I am.

I used to sew a lot and I will eventually attempt sewing a kilt or 2.

Vegan and Kilts/Sporrans sounds like it can't go together, right? We are okay with buying used wool and leather for necessities/things we can't find in vegan materials. His current kilts were bought new, in Poly material.

I am currently looking for kilts and a sporran for our 4 yr. old (he's a stocky boy, 26" waist), as you could see in my first two posts.

You all are so friendly, I don't know why it has taken me so long to get out of lurker-mode.
There are few more impressive sights in the world than a Scotsman on the make.

Welcome from up province of, upstate NY. We call it Canada. Poly-Viscous (poly-rayon) makes a lovely and suitable substitute for wool from a reputable scource. Although nothing beats wool on a cold winter's day. There has bee some discussions of non-leather sporrans, I don't recall that a really suitable material was found. Please remember also that a kilt does not have to be tartan it can be canvas or hemp, even (shudder) leather.

    Welcome.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
