Well, yeah, I wear them
...I just don't have my picture taken often. My girlfriend has some pics floating around of me in my second kilt. I'll see if I can't find one and post it.
Oh, and I notice everyone saying "hi from xxxx(location)" so "Hi from Hot Springs, Arkansas!" That's where I'm at. Kilts get a LOT of raised eyebrows around here.
I had no idea this community was so huge. Wow, and thanks for the hearty welcome!

P.S. I'm taking pictures of my third project. I'll post when it's done.
P.P.S. I discovered that a depth gage (one of those little rulers with a slider on it) really helps with pleating. I tend to use it instead of marking every line on the kilt. Anyone have any input on this?

Welcome from Eastern Washington State. By the way, stretch fabric is a real headache in any form for making kilts.

from Chicago. You should search the site for X-Kilt. One of the rabble put together a manual for making a contemporary kilt.

I did. That's actually why I joined X-Marks. I Googled "how to make a kilt" and got a link to the X-Kilt post. I have downloaded the PDF, and I'll probably follow it once I get my hands on some decent fabric and have more sewing techniques under my belt.
My only issue with the X-Kilt is that I'm a little nervous about box-pleating. The directions are just a smidge confusing (to me) and it's easier (for me) to put in knife-edge pleats. Of course, I'm only on my third kilt build, so I'm no expert, but I'll get down what I'm doing before trying something new.

My kilt is on the way!
I just received a confirmation from UPS. My first kilt is on it's way!
Well, not my first one, because I made a couple, but my first purchased kilt. It's a MacDonald tartan from SportKilt. Now, if I'd known about USA kilts ahead of time, I would've gotten one from them, but oh well, se la vie. Next kilt will probably be a USAK or Celtic Croft.
But I am SO excited!
Just had to share. I also found my clan society website, and I plan on joining when the rep contacts me.
