Coming aboard
After some long time as an observer, I'm finally coming on board. I live in Vancouver, Canada, and Inverness, Scotland. Relevant to this site, I have worn a kilt all my life and, with rare exception, continue to do so. "New" forms (i.e., non-wool) are new to me, but I do have a couple of UKs that are pretty good for the garden and hard work in Canada, although I would not wear them in Scotland. I have a new FK that arrived too late for my summer at home this year, but which I would not hesitate to wear there. I suppose my wardrobe now contains a few dozen worn over the years; many have shrunk as I have aged, but I don't ever seem to toss anything that hasn't completely worn out.
For those who might be interested in more, I am a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries in Scotland, am on the steering committee of the School for Scottish Studies at Simon Fraser University and sit on the Council of the Clan Chattan Association in Scotland.
In "retirement" I own a small inn of six rooms in Vancouver, work in wood, metal and leather and periodically still lecture on fortified housing in Scotland.
