Re: Future kilt wearer from Belgium
A warm welcome from the Lowand Plains of Cheshire UK. Served at SHAPE in Mons for 2 years and used to visit Brussels every three weeks during that time to HQ NATO and other locations, Great place & great times.

Kilt ordered!
Thank you all for the warm welcome! I never had such an overwhelming response after introducing myself on a forum

Today I finally went to Great Scotland to have my measurements taken. By now, these measurements should have been sent to the House of Edgar, in Scotland, where the actual making of the kilt will take place.
Now the excruciating six week wait starts!
Slāinte mhath!

My choice for MacLaren is because of the scouting link it has through the Gilwell training.
Since scouting is basically the only link I have to Scottish heritage, I decided to find a scouting themed kilt pin and buckle as well. Thanks to Alan Lee from Pewtermill Crafts in Scotland, I'm now the proud owner of the scouting pin and buckle you can see below. I can't wait to wear them on my kilt!

Enjoy wearing a kilt in Belgium, last year I met up with a fellow X Marker named Budule (who loves all things Scottish) and we walked together around the Grand Place in Brussels Belgium both in kilts and were more photographed than the Mannekin Pis in fact the public cleared a way to get photos of us in front of him. I guess most in that area were tourists but it was very obvious that Belgians love to see men wearing kilts. Later in the afternoon I met 8 scotsmen wandering around the square, all were kilted, they had come over from Ayrshire for a bucks weekend, one was getting married in two weeks. Needless to say my kilt was introduction enough and we spent an enjoyable time with them. Photos can be found on this group. One of my kilts is a McLaren. Enjoy wearing a kilt in Belgium, I will be there again and taking a kilt again.

If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!
