    Greatings from a Newbie

I am new to this site and just starting my search into the ancestory of my family. i know that my maternal Grandfather was a Lindsay (he was from Maine) and his wife was a Byrne (we pronounced it as Burnie). Does anyone have some good websites to gather information?

Welcome, Maggie! I'm really not very genealogically inclined, but many on this forum are and I'm sure they will point you in the right direction soon enough. I do know something of name etymologies, however, and I can tell you that Byrne is quite often an Irish name, anglicized from Ó Broin.

Hello and welcome from Savannah, GA.

This links below will take you to a lists of different genealogy websites... there's just a lot out there. You might also want to find out if there is a LDS Church genealogical library near you. They have the most comprehensive collection of genealogical data in their main library in Salt Lake, and their smaller libraries have indexes for the main library. They are a very comprehensive resource if you're able to visit a library in person.

Hello from Connecticut. Back in the highlands the Lindsays and the Donnachaidhs were arch enemies but here we're all friends. I'd start with the Morman church site. I think it's the www.LDS.org. They have an extensive database. And check out www.clanlindsayusa.org for your clan history.
    Cheers,
