    Greetings from Alaska!

    Hello,

I've been parusing the boards for quite some time and finally decided to become an active member. I'm told my father's side of the family is of Scottish decent. My last name is Donaldson, but there is no one alive that has any information about our family history. At some point perhaps I'll have the time to do some research.

Two years ago I went to my first Highland Games in Eagle River, AK and was blown away! Being a percussionist I was particularily drawn to the pipe band competitions, but was amazed with everything else as well. At the end of the day I had signed up for free lessons from a band and have now been playing side drum with them for almost 2 years. Wearing a kilt is great fun and I get a wonderful sense of kinship and pride.

This is my second post as I've already asked a question on pleating. Everyone was very helpful. I look forward to contributing to the community and meeting more of you.

Bienvenue au X-Marks, as they say en francais!

Drums and pipes are just one more thing to love about the Scots.

    Welcome.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
