    Greetings from Texas

I am Walter MacArthur. As with so many other great discoveries I stumbled upon this site quite by accident.
My grandfather was a MacArthur and his wife an Erskine. My MacArthur line is traced back to Glen Lyon in 1710.My Erskine line goes back to Mary Stuart's baby-sitter.
I have become an avid student of Scottish ( NOT British!! ) history since I began seeking my origins about 12 years ago. I am in the very early stages of learning Scots Gaelic. It is unlike any other languages I have studied but it is easier in some ways than Chinese.
And of course the kilt is a logical progression. I do not yet have a kilt but that will be happening in the near future. Of course the tartan will be MacArthur tartan. I generally appreciate tradition.
It WON'T be Campbell. No septs here, nosiree!

I tend to be irreverent but not disrespectful. So I hereby apologize, in advance, to those who feel the need to be offended.

I realize my sense of humor can be a bit perplexing. C'mon! I am American! Gimmee a break.

I feel like an imposter welcoming anyone to a board I get to use so seldom, but welcome, heartily!

I have been taken out of context, duplexed, and metroplexed in many venues, but not here. I can't tell you how I look forward to being perplexed, by humor or by any other means.

I have been greatly entertained and educated by the rabble here. My fault is that I read through the threads and react by saying to myself, "I couldn't have said it better than" . . . and you can fill in the blank with a whole host of names with which, I am sure, you will become both familiar and fond. That reaction tends toward lack of response. As I said, that is my fault. Don't let it become yours.

Give the folk in Texas a big hello for me.
