    Greetings from Vermont

I've been struggling with finding a kilt a la utilikilts for a while. I have hopes that I might be able to find something that'll look good on my husband through researching here.

I've done a little bit already, but I'm starting to think my husband is either very uniquely shaped, or most men shaped like my husband never consider wearing a kilt.

I'm looking forward to learning more about kilts.

Welcome from the land of the vikings, Norway. In my opinion the kilt is the one type of clothing every man can look good in whatever shape or form.

Well I certainly hope so. I seem to have a really serious problem finding a kilt maker who will talk to me about it. Utilikilts don't go big enough, and another place I tried uhm... Celtic Croft I think it was, will go big enough, but they say they can't really fit his shape very well. Couple of other places I've tried to contact haven't gotten back to me.

Problem is, his hip measurement is around 10 inches larger than his waist measurement because he's got a large belly and his bum is wide, too. He's truly pear-shaped.

Perhaps I'm being unreasonable, but I would like his kilt to be his go-to comfortable thing to wear about town when we're out on errands or when he's mucking about in the yard, so I want something he'll -wear-. If he has to wear a belt, he won't ever consider it comfortable.

So the waist needs to fit comfortably, but I also want it to hang over his belly and hips nicely, without the pleat spreading unattractively. Maybe I'm asking for something that isn't really kilt then?
