    Hello from Gastonia, N.C.

Hi folks! I've been lurking on this site for ages and figured I should go ahead and register.

I live in North Carolina although 99% of my family is from and still lives in Philadelphia and eastern Pennsylvania -- some going back to the 1700s.

I kind of feel a bit embarrassed since I don't have a confirmed Scottish heritage -- yet. My grandmother's grandparents' family were Episcopal Ulster McAuleys and Presbyterian Murdocks (all immigrants to Philadelphia) -- I'm sure there's a Scottish connection there if I could only find it, since the majority of the Ulster McAuleys appear to be of Scottish descent. I love all things from the British Isles, especially Ireland and Scotland, from history to poetry and music to language. And I especially love kilts, but I feel guilty about wearing one since, as one Youtube poster put it "because their ancestors slept with a Scot they think that gives them the right (to wear a kilt)."

    Anyway, glad to meet everyone!

I'm not sure you have to earn the "right" to wear the kilt.

As for the kilt, you have one and that's your right/entitlement to wear it. Enjoy and again, welcome.

Don't believe everything you hear on YouTube. Wear the kilt with pride. After all, you're a Tarheel!

...from the far nw corner of Washington state!

*...there is no entitlement for wearing the kilt, the only "right" is whatever you feel is right for you. There's a lot of "experts" on youtube who like to hear themselves talk.
