Hello from Norway and I need a little help

    Hello

    I'm new here (joined yesterday).

I had planned on just lurking for a while, but I have come across a little problem that I think you can help me solving.

I'm in the process of completing the order for my first kilt and I desperatly need to know what my height of 173 cm is in feet and inches.

    Help - please

    Iano

There seem to be a few Norwegians joining right now - you are the second one I have welcomed today. I have already met three Norwegian based x-markers when they visited Scotland, hopefully will meet up with you when you come here too.
But to your question. ummm - well the scale on the other side of a one foot ruler goes up to 300mm, which is approximately one foot, so 300cm would be ten feet. That would mean 150cm would be five feet, plus another 15cm would be another six inches, then add 8 more which is just over half of the last amount ie just over three inches, so that would make 173cm just a tad over 5 feet 9 inches. I really find this new fangled metric meaurement difficult to visualise and much prefer to work in feet and inches myself.

No problem, and welcome to the forum. But I'm curious why you needed this in "imperial" measurements. I assume that all European tailors, including the British, can work in cm, no?

Galician is correct. To convert 173cm to inches, take 173cm/2.54 cm/inch. This gives: 68.11 inches/ divide this by 12, and you get 5.68 feet. .68 feet is .68 multiplied by 12inches per foot. This equals 9.18 inches, and this plus the 5 ft gives you 5ft 8.16 inches, so 5 ft 8 in is close enough. I used to love doing dimensional equations.

Well, it seems that Kiltstore has everything metric, but bodyheight.
