    Hello, and a question

Hello all, I am new to this board, from Salt lake City, UT.

I have a question concerning which tartan I should wear.. My Grandmother on my fathers side is a Buchanan, but my surname is Luke, which is a sept of the clan Macdougall. I want to get a kilt in my grandmothers tartan, because she is the one who has talked so much about Scotland and got me interested in all thing Scottish a long time ago. But would it be more proper to wear the Macdougall tartan? Or does it really matter? I know there are several general tartans I could wear but I really want to wear one from my ancestry.
Thanks for any help you can give,

    Luke

Welcome, from Inverness-shire.You can wear nearly any tartan you wish.As your Grandmother started you on your Scottish journey, so to speak, then why not please her and wear her tartan.

As others will certainly chime in, there is not such thing as the tartan police. Wear what you want, especially if it means something to you!
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

There is NO wrong tartan to wear. Wear all that you like...just not all at once.
