    Hello from Seattle

    Hello!

I'm new to this website and kilting. I've just purchased my first kilt (Fletcher Modern - my mother's tartan) at the Seattle Highland Games a couple weekends ago, and am eager for it's arrival this autumn. Being as I only purchased the kilt (and matching flashes), I'm now in search of all the accessories I'll need for wearing the kilt both casual, and formal. In fact I anticipate my kilt arriving just a week or two before a black tie event I'm attending in November, so will need to get fitted out before I actually have kilt in hand.

Looking to chatting with everyone about all things kilted.

I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

Welcome, from Northgate, Seattle. Where in Seattle are you located?

If you have a kilt and flashes on the way, you'll also need a sporran, sporran strap, belt, kilt hose and appropriate shoes/brogues.

Any leather kilt belt will do and some folks even prefer to wear a normal belt. As for the sporran, I highly recommend a Buzz Kidder sporran for day wear. They're roomy and excellent for the price. Look for the Rob Roy Leather Sporran, the Country Sporran, or the Celtic Knot Sporran.

As for the hose, USA Kilts is having a special on hose and flashes right now.

As for the shoes, most folks just wear boots or semi-dress shoes for day wear.

You also might be interested in joining the WACKO (Washington Area Community Kilt Organization), it's an X-Marks group and we gather every now and then.
