Hello . . and thanks!
I have been lurking around this site for a few days. Long enough to grasp the general personality of this group and glean valuable information necessary for the purchase of my first kilt. As an wanne-be piper in training I found it necessary to procure a kilt for an upcomming Celtic festival where our band will be staffing a booth.
Baised on the comments and observations here I decided to go with a USA semi-traditional, Black Watch. I think the non-wool alternative will be compatable with the climate where I live.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Hello and a warm Celtic from Boston, Massachusetts
Welcome to the world of kilts, from a piper in training.
The USAK semi-traditional passes as good as a wool tank in appearance to most people and is quite comfortable in the warmer months here. Rocky's kilts take a beating and come back for more. I wear the USAK to festivals and concerts where the contact with spills and debris is to be expected. My kilts get plenty of use, as I wear a kilt every day.
