Hullo from Carlisle!

Hullo All!

I've been a kilt fan since a trip to Edinburgh in 2005. I bought one 'off the shelf' in one of the shops there and wore it all day (Avatar - if I can get it to work! - me at Edinburgh Castle).

I subsequently bought a Govt Tartan No 2 kilt (as I am employed by HMG) and a Montrose Doublet (which I subsequently ruined....) a belt or two, Sgian Dubh. Wore it to our mess Burns Night (must have a photo somewhere...).

Then I got my first 'real' kilt - my family name is a sept of the Home clan, so I bought a Home modern in wool (photo), decent Kilt pin etc and a PC.

Since then I've added a Home 'ancient' and a couple of Argyll jackets (photos to follow).

Don't really have much opportunity to wear a kilt excepting Burns Night. I must find an excuse.....

Nice. You look smart.

Welcome to X Marks, by the way.

Is it me bringing it, or does Carlisle have it in for me, because it always rains when I get there?

Welcome to XMtS Steve - it is always good to be able to welcome a new member resident in England.

Excuse to wear the kilt? Believe me, we NEVER need an excuse to wear the kilt. Just getting out of bed in the morning is reason enough!!

Take care,
Ham.

Welcome from Idaho! I believe the XMarks site bylaws clearly state you are allowed wear a kilt on any day ending with a "Y"

For an excuse to wear the kilt, wander up to Dumfries and have a dram w/ Pour1Malt at the Globe.

I can count the number of days it doesn't rain in Carlisle on one hand..... ;)
