Hi Mark and welcome to Xmarks.

Take a look at this site for some ideas
    http://www.undiscoveredscotland.com/index.html

Here's a picture of Graham and I at the momument last summer too

You can walk the battlefeild free of charge . If you want to vist the centre and the Cottage that will cost you money. I can recommend Inverness It's a pearl .however it does get a little rowdy at night. It's

Great for visiting Lochness and Culloden. There are distillerys not too far off too.. Have a look at my personal website for a little more of what we did on our hol's.

If it's to be your first and maybe your last time vistiting I'm sure Edinburgh will be high on your list to. And maybe an Island or two .

Remember to post the pictures when you get back

    Well then....

Another quick down and dirty search indicates Keeney (Gaelic as O Cathain or Mac Cathain) originally from County Derry. You might want to look at the Kilkenny or Ulster tartans.

Interestingly I went to Jr. High School in Mauldin SC with a Mark Keeney.

Perhaps a kilt from Geoffrey (Tailor) Highland Crafts on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh? That's on MY list.

Welcome from Bavaria. We went to Scotland a couple of years ago and enjoyed it greatly. We stayed in Glasgow and took the train all over. We hit Edinburgh, Stirling, Inverness, Loch Lomond along with wandering around Glasgow. I only took 5 days leave to visit and I should have taken 10. We would have liked to hit at least one of the islands, spend more time in Edinburgh, and get over to Culloden. Now I'd also like to get over to Dumfries and sample some of Pour1Malt's whiskey. Everyplace we went the folks were friendly and the food was good so you can't go wrong regardless of where you go.

    YMOS,
    Tony

THAT is one of the VERY REASONS I joined here .
I had a bad experience on another forum and became "forum shy" for 3 years . I was encouraged by a member and associate after I lurked here for 3 months, testing out the "tone" and "mood". I am VERY HAPPY here .

By the way, over moderating may be irritating at times, but IT IS WHAT KEEPS THIS PLACE CIVIL. The moderators act with reason and rationale. They are YOUR FRIEND!!!
Couldn't agree with you more. Civil discourse on a variety of topics makes this a refreshing place to visit. I'm new to this site and actually this is the first attempt for me to join anything in which I have to actually respond to a forum.
So much of what is out there is just tripe. Keep moderating.
