    A McKinnon Introduction

    Hello:

My name is Catherine Hester and I am of McKinnon decent. My grandmother's maiden name was McKinnon and I have been able to trace my McKinnon roots from Coffee County, Georgia backwards to the state of North Carolina. A fact that I find ironic since I've lived in NC my entire life and currently live in the Charlotte region.

I suspect given the dates and such, that my many greats grandfather who is listed as being born in North Carolina was a first generation American. I've not found any reference of who his parents may or may not have been.

I am extremely proud of my Scottish roots. A pride my father inadvertently instilled in me because he always said that he was a McKinnon 9 months before he was a Hester. I hope to learn a great deal of some of my heritage here as well as about the kilt and perhaps tartans. Though I have to admit for awhile I will be pretty much a lurker.
