New here, looking for a kilt for my son.

Hi, the title says it all but I am also registered to see if I can maybe "meet" people from the Mac Phee (Macfie) and/or the McLean (Duart) clan. Of course there are more clans that we are more distantly related to but right now I'd like to keep it simple.
He's a big guy and I want to get him something nice since he just turned 21. I would like any advice on what kind of kilt he should get. I'm thinking a medium weight, Traditional 8 yard kilt. I'm surprised that the kilts I've looked at (on scotweb) are more affordable than I expected. And I feel so proud that he wants to wear a kilt without having to for an event! He wants a Macfie tartan. I also am thinking of the future; my Father, (whose Macfie tartan tie is ragged,) might be thrilled to retire the tie his Mother made for a brand spanking new one. Thank you for listening.

Welcome from Albany, NY And I think it's great that you want to get your son his first kilt. It's a wonderful gift.

Hello and a warm Celtic from Boston, Massachusetts. Wherein New England are you? There is a group of New England kilties that get together occasionally, we would like both of you to join us. Kep an eye for kilt night threads.

There are a lot of fine kilt makers here on the site.
