    Frank, actually heading there this summer. We were not able to fit it in on our last trip to Scotland. Very much looking forward to it.

    It's a bigger country than some give it credit. Our last trip, which was 2007, we tried to fit in Shetland, but just couldn't find the time. We seen many of the islands, and all told, were on 9 different ferries on the trip; including the passenger only ferry to Iona.

    There is a lot to see on Orkney's Mainland. Be sure to post some pics after your trip.

    Welcome from a Scotsman living in middle England. I had a very interesting and enjoyable holiday in Orkney a few years back - a fascinating place!
