newcomer in Chicago

Hi all,

I've been wearing kilts for about a year, and occasionally looking in on this forum, but only joined yesterday. I bought my first kilt from Angus Harvey at the Bristol Renaissance fair in Wisconsin last summer. Since then, I've acquired ten more, mostly Stillwater acrylics.

I'm a programmer and sysadmin, mostly working at home; but I'm also a history student at the University of Illinois, Chicago, where I wear kilts almost every day. The reaction there is generally good (or indifferent).

Welcome from a former Chicago citizen! Mostly good reactions or indifference were my experience as well. And Angus Harvey does some nice work. I have one of his as well. Nice guy.

The weaponry in the photo does make it a bit costumish, but my first kilt (pictured) did come from a renaissance faire. Since then, I've been wearing them to the university and to friends' houses, usually with boots and a t-shirt.

Does anyone recognise the tartan? I didn't think to ask when I bought it, and my later research didn't find any exact match (though "Gala Water Modern" comes close, it's not perfect).. A close-up, brightness enhanced, is here:
