Pricked fingers led me to sign up! Hi Everyone!
I just spent seven hours making my first (not really that shabby either) kilt! I found this site searching for new tartan patterns and decided I should sign up, because I'm probably going to make more kilts (crazy I know!) in the future and figure this is a good place to have as a reference.
I'm living in MI, moving to San Francisco in a couple of months, and I'm not even
Scottish or Irish or anything! My first kilt was for my friend who has Scottish ancestry.
Anyway, My poor fingers need a rest. Ciao for now.

Welcome. Hopefully you're making some kilts for yourself too. We've got a lot of kiltmakers here and the information abounds.

Hello and a warm Celtic from Boston, Massachusetts.
Have you read Barb T's Book, The Art of Kiltmaking? It is loaded with helpful ways to put together a kilt. The D.I.Y. forum and the Kiltmakers forum both have many useful hints. The search engine on this site is your friend, it will lead you to many answers.

Thanks for the warm welcome. In my cursory looking about I've found some much needed advice already.
