    Scotty55 signing on from Massachusetts

    A Charah!

I have been a fan of Scottish culture and highland dress for many years. For the last 26 years I have been a member of an 18th Century revolutionary war re-enactment unit (American). Most recently, I joined an 18th Century French and Indian War era Highland unit (The Forty Twa) and marvel at what these guys had to carry into battle.

About three years ago I took up the highland pipes and belong to a local pipe band. Beyond that I have put together a formal (Prince Charlie) highland outfit and now looking to expand into daywear options. Eventually I would like to have my own 'piper for hire' business set up but need a few more tunes under my belt.

I have found that Argyle hose seem to be very expensive, even the machine made one's. I would like to have the most authentic daywear/evening wear kits and found that beyond solid color (not white or cream) Argyle looks to be th way to go.

Does anyone know a reasonable source for full Argyle hose preferably stateside?

    Thanks

    Scotty55

From the shadow of Wachusett in the highlands of Central Massachusetts greetings and welcome! I fear that a reasonable price is still pretty high. I am learning to knit them and thereby avoid paying a week's groceries or two.
