Looking to buy in bulk (+100) for Army Highland Games
Hello all,
I'm the chaplain assistant for a unit of cavalry in the US Army, currently deployed in Iraq. I was tasked with coming up with an activity for building morale and fostering unity, so of course the first thing I came up with was the Highland Games. I'd love to find someone who can provide decent-quality kilts at a price soldiers can afford without delving into the "Paper-thin cotton in plaid pattern skirt" cheap. I'm looking for somewhere under seventy five US dollars each, hopefully less. I'd also like any input on putting on a good highland games on a budget if anyone would care to help. Free advice is always appreciated!
Sincerely,
SPC Eugene Yeo

Try calling any of the vendors--almost all (if not all) have band prices. And, because its for a good cause, they might be inclined to reduce prices even more. The price of "how much a soldier can afford" might be to general for a range...I know Stillwater has low prices and a reputation for good quality. As for the games, no idea.

What a super thing to do! I cannot be of any help I am afraid other than,"are there any Scots Units still in Iraq that may be able to assist with practical advice?" A forlorn thought I suspect.Good luck to you all.

Actually, I've seen a few mechanics that still wear the union jack and I believe I've seen a Saltire among them. That said, I'm honestly not sure how I'd approach them.
I've sent emails to stillwater and sportkilt both, I hope to hear back from them before too long. Thanks for the replies folks, keep them coming!

"Hello, I wonder if you can help me?" is a pretty effective start!

While not a fan of acrylic myself a good argument was presented to me regarding their usefulness as games kilts. http://stores.channeladvisor.com/Sti...ndard%20Kilts/

That they were inexpensive and not worrisome if the caber damaged them.

Dominic
why not try contacting one of the Scottish highland unit's Chaplain and seeing what they may be able to do. Try info@theblackwatch.co.uk and see if they can assist.
Best of luck with this and please keep us posted!
