Need to buy my first "To Wear" kilt 33-34
I have recently come round to the way of thinking that wearing a kilt for everyday wear is one awesome Idea. Until a little while ago I did not even know that anyone did that!
I have a nice kilt for competition but I need a good kilt for use everyday, like a nice pair of pants. Unfortunately my sporran is a lot emptier than I would like and good made kilts are rather expensive...
If anyone has a decent kilt that they wold be willing to sell for a decent price I would definitely be interested. My waist is about a 33"-34". From my waist to my kneecap is about 23"-23 1/2" Which I think would be the fall. I would be interested in wool or PV.
Thanks
Your Obedient Servant,
Karl

If I had a 33"-34" waist, I would look on eBay in Europe. There are all sorts of new or grade 1 kilts for £110 or less. For that money you would have a true tank for the price of a knock-about.

Waist size is only one part of the equation. What length do you need? I'm a 34" waist as well, but eBay has been a poor place for me to find kilts that fit, because I'm a short guy and most of them are WAAAAAAY too long. So in order for anyone here to help you find a kilt that fits you properly, we're going to need the waist size and total length (or at least the "drop" measurement).

I wish I had a kilt to offer up, brother, but I absolutely agree with Tobus.
My first tartan kilt was a casual from Rocky over at USA Kilts. It won't break the bank and he'll make it to fit YOU which means you'll get much more wear out of it.
Good luck!

Another vote for Rocky. But why not wear the kilt you have? If it's of good quality it should last a great while and when it needs replacing buy another.
Please excuse the spelling errors. My IPhone is "helping" me.

Re: Need to buy my first "To Wear" kilt 33-34
Hello Karl,
I am new to the Kilted Brotherhood and to this forum), having just recently bought not one but three kilts within the last month or so. One of them is a solid black "casual" kilt in the style of Utilikilt or Amerikilt, although I purchased mine from an eBay seller in Roy, Utah, at a much more competitive price (well under US$100.00, including delivery). These kilts are the kilt equivalent of a pair of Dockers, OshKosh or Carrhart casual/work pants--made of thick, hard-finished, tightly woven twill or cross-woven broadcloth or sail cloth type material, they are durable, practical, comfortable and presentable for virtually any casual or dress casual occasion, AND they have POCKETS, including rear pockets like a pair of pants. They hold their shape well and are low maintenance. Amerikilt also sells a matching cloth sporran which I also bought and recommend. I plan to invest in a black or charcoal colored wool kilt jacket, which will allow me to wear my black kilt for more dressy occasions--fine restaurants, concerts special events, etc.--and also to the office on Casual Friday, if not otherwise (I've yet to test those waters).
The two other kilts I bought--in Scottish National and Freedom Of Scotland patterns--were also purchased on eBay. There are at least two sellers there who offer 6 yard, 13 ounce acrylic/wool or polyester/viscose kilts in a wide variety of tartans, for about US$120.00, delivered. Mine are comfortable and well-made, with plenty of adjustability, drape and "swing". I haven't had them long but they appear to be good value for what I paid.
So far I've only worn my kilts on the weekends, but wearing one daily seems to me a fine way to go, if only for the comfort, distinctiveness, and the constant admiring glances, approving smiles and warm compliments from the Ladies. Hope my recommendations are helpful. Kilt On!

It's hard to beat a USAK casual for an affordable, washable kilt that is made to measure from high quality fabric. In my size it runs about $130 delivered.
In the same price range is the Stillwater "heavyweight" wool kilt. It's really what we call a medium weight, about 13 ounce fabric. It's made with a "standard" hip/waist ratio; it may or may not suit your body shape. SWK's acrylic models are also good value; how well they last depends upon how you (ab)use them.
Other possiblities would be a cotton or poly-cotton contemporary kilt like the Amerikilt, or you could make your own X-kilt if you have access to a sewing machine. It's a fun project, if you like that sort of thing.

There are alot of ( lower cost ) Kilt on the web (E Bay ) just please as a friend
Be carefull who you buy from ,As I did not and ended up with 6 month wait and a not so good kilt .There are many kilt sellers on the forum to choose from.
I will give this advise --DO NOT Buy from Clansmen Knitwear on the web..
You could try Sport Kilt .Com there kilts are about $100.00
Or J Higgins on the web theres are about $ 79.00
Mean what you say and say what you mean

Send me a PM, I just bought a Stillwater Irish National Standard that I just dont care for. If you are interested, I'll cut you a deal on it. Only worn twice
Not that there is anything wrong with it, i'm just used to alot heavier fabric so I have decided to order a full on tank and have no use for the standard.
