Just thought i would throw this pic out there it doesnt matter which kilt im wearing its usualy the same "style" im wearing ie tshirt and boots with a jacket if its cold/wet/Scotland
Ignore the belt ive only work it once with my UK and it happens to be in the only half decent photo I have.
And this was for Rememberance Day 09 before I had a proper kilt jacket and needed to look smarter than my usualy scruffy self

IOW, a non-kilt-cut jacket with a kilt. I'm a little concerned that it might be too long, but color wise it looks pretty decent with a dark shirt. Could be a good outfit for St. Patrick's Day...
I guess I just don't trust myself yet in coming up with kilt-based outfits more complicated than a t-shirt, rugby shirt, or sweatshirt. | Put it on, and see what it looks like. If you don't wear a sporran, the lack of a cutaway front for it isn't that big a deal. I wear a sport coat over a casual modern kilt from time to time. looks fine.

Where do you put your wallet/keys/cell phone? | post a picture. I'm sure you'll get someone who's willing to tell you if it's awful.
Most of my coats have pockets.

| | | Looks with a kilt
I bought a sweatshirt once with Scotland Forever across the front.
We it sometimes, but not Casual dress. Casual is the opposite of Black Tie, sometimes called Business Attire. A daywear sporran and a kilt jacket. You can also wear a vest with this. Those white hoses are for Evening wear. You need a variety if colored hoses.
I also own two military style sweaters, that look great with the kilt.
That highly polished belt buckle is out. Get a brass/bronze color buckle. I got a belt at the womans section of Walmart. Wide brown leather with brass buckle, it matches my brown leather pouch sporran. I wear kilted loafers with it.
Black Tie is a Prince Charlie, Vest, Tuxedo Shirt, Bow Tie, Evening wear sporran (Has some form of hair and mountings.

On this thread they discuss modern looks but it does seem that most of what was discussed seemed to go back toward how to make them more traditional. http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/c...155/index.html
So how do you guys think about them from using them as a modern interpretation? Things such as tone on tone are a big rage but didn't go over well when held against traditional gauges. Here we are thinking on how modern style can be TASTEFULLY applied to the kilt. While I know that argyle socks, tartan and tweed can all be worn together in a traditional style (gives my wife the shivers that does) lets not go there with things like paisley and tie-die.
