Alt-Kilt, Punk Kilt review.

Hi Gang,
Well after a bit of waiting, my new Alt Kilt Punk Kilt arrived. In the shortest possible review: Its great....

The long version:
First the (very limited) bad stuff: The kilt was supposed to arrive in 4-6 weeks, and it took closer to 8 weeks. In Alt Kilts defense, I got a very nice email letting me know that the kilt was going to be late, and it went out within a few days of her revised estimate. I wish she would have sent me the tracking info before I had asked for it, but that is a minor quibble.

The Great Stuff: The kilt looks great! It fits great. I've been loosing weight, and the fact that I need to wear a belt with the kilt is not a bad thing (I suspect it was built to the exact measurements I sent, but if I take a big breath in and don't wear a belt, it falls too low to be decent.). It has great styling , and I love the D rings and laces running up the sides. The material is a great heavy duct, and has beautiful buttons that hold it together. While the two pockets might not be big enough for everything I want to carry (the UK Survivor kilt can just barely hold everything I want it to), it has plenty of cargo space -- and if I can just buy some more dog clips, I can clip my extra stuff to all the D-Rings.

The cool design on the front apron is hand painted on and is incredibly cool. The whole kilt has a slightly distressed quality to it that I love (and already feels quite lived in). I'm a bit surprised at how heavy it is, but that isn't a good or a bad thing, just a surprise. Overall, it feels heavier than my UK Survivor, but not as heavy as my tank.

I'm not sure what else to say, except that I love it, and my husband (who ordered me to buy the new kilt) also loves it. Tomorrow we will see what my students think.

Oh... And of course, pictures:

Cheers
Chris

It looks cool, but I don't like the splashy white thing on the apron. Is that optional? If not, they should make it so because they'll sell a lot more--IMHO, of course.

The "Splashy White Thing" is optional, and I really like it. She offers lots of options on her work, and a friend of mine got one of her other kilts with quite a few variations due to his personal taste.
Cheers

Cool! Thanks for the info--and personal taste is just that. Vive la difference!

As my husband was breaking down the box for recyling he said "Hey there is something else in here" I had unpacked and was so focused on the kilt, I didn't notice that she had included a belt as well.

Another example of great service.

Cheers

Congratulations on the new kilt. It looks well on you. My spouse perfers me in tartan, and he won't even try on a kilt. A local punk/metal band that I gig with uses Alt Kilts for the "uniform". I use a few rope clips to keep all my gear right on the kilt when I head out on stage. Plus a few chains clipped to some of the assorted D-rings.

Still takes a beating after three hours on the stage.
