Another contemporary kilt maker: Urban Kilts
Did a forum search, it doesn't look like this one has come up before: www.urbankilts.com It doesn't say where in the U.S. they are based, they started this year.

I'll stick with UK, but hey, the more the merrier.
Best regards,
Jake

$125 USD, based out of Indiana. I'd rather save up 25 more and get a UK, but that's me.

Hm. Not sure about that attached sporran (on the other models at the site--I think the one shown above is detachable.) Looking forward to a review!

Interesting - my favorite is their 'Lowlander" which features up to five characters in braille made from studs located on a small attached cloth sporran on the front of the apron... on the front of the apron... about where... well, lets just say I won't be trying to "read it" no matter how much the kilt owner wants me to...

Interesting, though not my bag, I'm afraid. What's with the 'urban' moniker on these things? Can't you wear them in a rural setting?

I must not get it since I don't live in the Urbs

The photos make the kilts look quite attractive. Come Spring I may get one for the hot weather, but right now I'm on a wool binge.
The site is very well done. I'm especially impressed that their history of the kilt is reasonably accurate and credits its sources.

Do the language laws in Quebec really require you to hire a mime who doesn't speak French if you hire one who doesn't speak English? Could a mime who doesn't speak either fill both roles at the same time? (Thanks to Calvin Trillin.)

I don't care for those stitched-down side pockets; they prevent the side pleats from releasing until almost at the knee. I guess you get a lot of swish since the sides hang straight while the back pleats go crazy. The back patch pocket looks puny, too.
Otherwise, they look pretty good.

The obscure we see eventually. The completely obvious, it seems, takes longer.

can't say that I've seen that before, and I have to say, I bet I could see girls shirts with braile on the 'no touch' area not that far off..... You can read mine if I can read yours.....
