    Try to explain Massed Bands

In my opinion, the Massed Bands at the end of every Highland Games is the best part. I'm usually in it piping with everybody else and there's no feeling like it. Being surrounded by 800 pipers, followed by 300 drummers...the sound is indescribable. It sends shivers down my spine every time.

So when people ask me about the Highland Games or bagpiping and I try to describe it, they don't always understand. So let me share with you my explanation.

    Step 1.
    Download this tune (http://www.filedropper.com/14-highla...ietheblackbear)

    Step 2.
Turn up turn up your subwoofer and volume

    Step 3.
Revel in the glory that is Scotland!

    Step 4.
    Repeat.

That is how I feel when I'm performing in the Massed Bands.

You left out the part about counter marching and knocking drones clashing together.

You said it, Greg. It's all the coolness of marching in a pipe band, squared.

Agreed...the only way to describe it is to feel it...I've experienced the rush of 100-150 pipers but 800...WOW!!!!

    Thanks, Greg, for the link.

Our local "Massed" band only had two bands. :/
The forecast was for severe thunderstorms, so I guess that account for part of it.

I don't know about you guys, but I find massed bands comical. Where I live I'd say 40% of us have been in the beer tent since we competed which is normally is a tad to long! So massed bands also has an interested sound to say the least.
