From the people I know who wear Doc Martins, they have all praised them. I wear my old Marine Corps issue on rare occasions. I left with three pair, Desert, Jungle, and standard. As with tradition, Marines are sticklers for tradition, I had to throw one pair over a powerline, that left me with just two pair.

I have to give further support for wear of the Dr. Martins. I tend to prefer them on the lower side, as I actually like a bit more ankle flexibility.

I have a pair of black, ankle-high hiking boots from Skecher that I like to wear...
(That is me on the right in the red)
and also in that saffron yellow suede work boot of similar cut...
...for a 'tank'
and contemporary
And then I rather like these tall ones on my ex BF...
Though I doubt those would look good on me without the proper accessories... but that is another discussion altogether.

My boot selection--easy. I still wear the style I was issued in 1984!

As to the beard, I'd just be happy if mine was one colour.
It's near black from ear to the chin and reddish from the mustache down to the chin. Also, due to some old scars, my left cheek is really patchy, so I end up having to trim it to a band that stops about 2" up from the jaw line. It's better for me to just go clean shaven...

But I gotta say the the best style advice I ever heard was (paraphrasing) to work with whatchya got, not with whatchya wishedya had (or imagine you have).
There's no better accessory than confidence, and so to return to topic, choose boots that look best on you and wear them deliberately, and they will be the right pair.
Regards,
Rex.

I have a pair of jungle boots that I ordered from Ranger Joes. They do the job.
