    Cloth weight of UK's?

So I wore my UK original out in Texas' version of cold and did alright. I would have done better with kilt hose, but that's not at issue here. I was wondering if anyone knew what the approximate weight of the cloth used in UK Originals is... I have a USAK casual coming and of course plan on buying more and more kilts, but was just wondering how the different kilts compare...

I believe most UK's are about a 12 oz fabric.
.. the kilt had concealed a blaster strapped to one thigh and a knife to the other. He was aware of the present gentle customs against personal weapons, but he felt naked without them. Such customs were nonsense anyhow, foolishment from old women - there was no such thing as "dangerous weapons," only dangerous people.

    From Utilikilts page -

"The Original's 8.5 oz. cotton-poly twill fabric resists wear, shrinkage and wrinkles, and breathes well. It's perfect for summer. For winter wear, you might want to check out the Leather Utilikilt. If you're man enough, that is."

"The Workman's was designed with the hard working man in mind. It comes in 12 oz. Duck cloth (100% cotton) that feels just about tough enough to stop a nail gun. It features two exterior rear pockets and has two multi-chamber saddle pockets with room for all the nails, screws, tape measures, cell phones, wallets and beer bottles you could want."

"The Denim Utilikilt features the same deep saddle pockets, the standard Utilikilts wrap-around "Neo-Traditional" enclosure, floating waist band and the same badass style as the Original but has a few features all its own:

It's made of high quality 12 oz. denim. (100% cotton)"

I have Mockers and Originals and they seem to be the same weight.

    This might help Captain,

Holding a USA Casual kilt and cheap plastic hanger adds no weight to a scale with me on it - less than half a pound.

Holding a UK Original adds 2 1/2 lbs. Holding a UK Workman's adds 4 lbs.

That's for size 40 short UKs

    Hey Ron...

Keep in mind that the material length is different on both... UK probably has more material overall since the pleats go all the way around to the front (minus the 8" apron which has 2 pleats under it) where our front aprons are hip to hip. Also, the pockets and snaps and rivets and other "tid bits" add weight as well.

Just some things to think about... Not good or bad... just different.

For sure Rocky, figured folks knew all that stuff...

Was gonna include something to that effect in my post but couldn't figure out how to say it.

Only time I worry about a kilt's weight is with hand sewn wool kilts, then it makes a big difference....

My thought was that if I was okay in the cold with the UK, how much of a difference could I expect in my USAK coming (soon I hope!).
