ALL GOOD THINGS START OUT IN A PUB AND ALWAYS REQUIRE A FEW PINTS.
You know the US Marine Corps was started in a Pub, well a Tavern. Tun Tavern Pa. Nov.10, 1775

Amazing how many "revolutionary" things can be organized in a Pub in Philadelphia.

Suppose the Marine Corps Insignia was designed on a cocktail napkin too?

I have a USAK patch on the shoulder of my BDU jacket. It does draw attention

I have to ask , did the wheat stocks come from the Newcastle logo? Not that you can find Newcastle in a pub

Graham, you are very good at what you do. I personally like the USAKilts patch, of course I own a Victory kilt and the patch is on the back pocket. Funny thing though, I get more questions on what is on the pocket than what the He@$ are you wearing? type questions. Bloody rednecks, more amazed by bits od colour and design than an actual garment.

Thanks Rob, after having spent a lot of time on the design of the badge (converting it to my sign software) the design of USAK has grown on me!

I am happy to wear it, I even have the Tee shirt!! (altho' i would rather read "real men wear kilts" on the back than "What's up yours".

I find that some people are surprised about kilts being made in the USA rather than Scotland.

Graham, Here is a link to the State Fair of Texas site. I don't know if you have ever heard of BIG TEX. It is the 'mascot' of the State Fair of Texas in Dallas and it is a 49 foot tall 'Texan'. If my calculations are correct your patch should be right about scale for him...now if you can just get Rocky to make a kilt that size for him!

BTW...I will be going this year in one of the USAKkilts in late Sept so I'll get a PIC and post

The EGA (Marine Corps Emblem) came much later and went under a few changes over time but i would bet that some of them were talked about over a pint of two.
