Fashion Kilts - NY Fashion Week

British designers Marcus Wainwright and David Neville of Rag & Bone showed some kilts and several tartan pieces in their New York Fashion Week menswear show.

Nice to see them making it into mainstream looks.

It's not at all clear to me that these guys know anything about traditional kilts and how they are made. I couldn't find any shots of pleats.

Second pic too. I wonder if it has the same implication as, for example, which ear you wear an earring on.

As to the fringe, I suspect it is on the "wrong" side. I'd bet these photos were taken from the end of the runway...or from that direction at least. I'd also bet that the designer was not concerned about traditional authenticity.

Just my thoughts...I reserve the right to be wrong on all counts.

If we may assume that the shirts button on the 'right' side then the images are not mirrored and the fringes are on the 'wrong' side.

These guys also do a womenswear collection, so they may just think all "skirts" open on the left.
