If you aren't trying to look dressy, I would suggest the UK original over the mocker for the following reasons:

*Big pockets on side make it look less skirty. Womens skirts don't have big pockets on the side. Sometimes adds to the acceptance of the kilt as a man's garment
*Pockets on outside, as opposed to the inside, seems to make the kilt cooler in hot and humid weather.
*Tall buildings to strange things to wind and big pockets help keep the kilt down. (no Marilyn moments) My mocker flies up too much.

The only drawback to the original is the back pocket is on the right side instead of the left where I would prefer it.

For ≤$200, I would go with a Stillwater Heavyweight Shadow, or an USAK.
I am easily moved for sympathy for dogs, far more so than for humans, because dogs do not understand. There is no way to explain that you will return, that the vet will make it all better, that they cannot go shooting today because that is not what today is about. They cannot work out that their misery is finite and will some time end, and so their misery is magnified.
