    Look a little like a utility kilt to you?

    There were two varieties of these. One was a true apron that only protected the front half of the kilt. The other wrapped fully around the body and had pleats in the back. The solid color of the fabric and the canvas like cloth make it look an awful lot like a modern utility kilt to me.
