    Material Weight

Hey Rocky, Is the Scottish National PV a good semi-heavyweight material? I'm thinking about a kilt in that material, and would like something not too thin. How close to a 13 oz wool is it?

    Hey Donnie,

I would compare the weight of the PV materials to "ABOUT" a 10 or 11 oz wool. I do not have a way of measuring it myself, so please understand that this # is JUST AN ESTIMATE. I've felt 7 and 8 oz wool and this is definitely thicker. I've felt 13 oz wool and it's definitely thinner. I made 1 kilt out of 10.5 oz wool and it seems about the same weight. That is what I'm basing my comparison on.

    Does that help?

Donnie I have a PV USAkilt that is that tartan, it is not to thin but not very thick. I would have to agree with Rocky for sure. It is thicker then say um dress slacks, but not as thick as a Navy Pea Coat hehehe

Rocky, here is another situation where i feel that having samples would be a real advantage, just offcuts maybe 6" square. This would give a good idea to buyers of the type of fabric, the weight and the colour.

i for one would have no problem paying a reasonable fee for this service. It could save expensive mistakes later.
