New kilt order

I just placed my first order from USA Kilts and I already can't wait to see the finished product.

I've had the site bookmarked for a while now and traded emails with them a while ago regarding what customization they can do. Well when they updated the website they added a bunch of new tartans and by the gods that Black Knight tartan just jumped out of the screen at me. Perfect. Exactly what I have been looking for. Dark enough to be dress casual but not solid black like every other casual kilt. Tartan without being overbearing.

I'm still not sure about the Velcro closure (I've posted elswhere about my personal anti-velcro quirk, but let us just say that I dislike velcro and leave it at that) but with so many casual kilt makers going to velcro I figure I might as well take a chance.

I got my Dress Campbell (My Clan is Campbell) last week and had a weekend go with it. I enjoyed it and I'm already planning for my second (still thinking what for the 2nd). I perfer not to do the velcro thing also but it's not a deal breaker for me.

Jimmy was also very fast in getting it to me.

Just after getting my first from them I recommend it....

We're doing the Traditional Kilts for the general public now... and they have the three buckles. We found a place in Wisconsin that makes them to the quality that we really like. None of that hollow metal crud.

We thought about offering the buckles as an added option on the other kilts, but (in our warped minds) that would lessen the effective allure of the traditional ones. Each style that we offer has its own uniqueness and feel.

I can't thank everyone enough for the feedback. We're doing our best to give the most we can for the buck!

I'll make you a deal...

I'll upgrade your kilt for FREE, IF... you go to Highland Tide Wear and buy ANYTHING to support Hank and this GREAT messageboard.

I'll even go further than that. I'll make sure that you have this awesome kilt for this weekend's St. Patrick's Parades. I'll even mail it 20 minutes ago.

(Guess I should have offered this BEFORE doing it)

Got the kilt today and it looks great...until I put it on. After a few frantic minutes with the measuring tape, my wife figured out the problem. I measured with my jeans on and the waist on those is about three inches smaller than a properly fitted kilt. I should have measured while wearing one of my other kilts.

Well, I have emailed jim about how I can go about fixing this or getting it fixed. The kilt itself is fantastic, he upgraded from the velcro to the leather buckles and straps, tossed in a kilt pin that I didn't expect either. Plus from ordering to arriving at my door was less than a week. Utilikilts had my last kilt in stock and it took a week and a half to get here.

Cheers to USA Kilts for the kilt and the service.

Jeers to me for being haphazard with a tape measure.

Got my kilt again, this time adjusted for the correct measurements.

It is great, more comfy than my other kilts and now I am going to be looking for opportunities to dress up a bit with it.

I'm going to try and upload a picture for the photos section.
