| | | Original "original" UKs (w/apron)
Just received an original "original" (w/apron) UK that I recently won on eBay. I love these (this is my second). The difference from the current "original" model is they don't have the waist snaps and the material is SOFT. The snap thing is neither here nor there, but the material difference is the kicker. Really nice feel--more like a lightweight Survival. If you're a UK fan I recommend hunting for one of these.
Anyone else here have one?

Reason: correcting the facts. Thanks Rex

I thought the original original was one with a zipper fly and pleats around to the front.
I do have an original with no waist snaps, yes - with the flappy pockets. Yes, it's comfortable and serviceable.
Regards,
Rex.

Or, to make someone's head hurt more, call it the Original "original" Neo-trad. IIRC, the very early Neo-trads and standards used 100% cotton, instead of the poly-cotton fabric that the later ones used.

I have one with no waist snaps but with the polycotton. Not sure where that lands in the hierarchy of originals, but i like it. Much lighter weight than my survival model, but not as soft.

The ones I'm talking about are 65% poly/35% cotton. The material just seems softer than the current "originals." Less chafe!
So as to not lead newbie newbies to UKs astray, the UK "original" version I'm referring to are the snapless waist, aproned, 65/35 blend "original" model Utilikilts.
And, yes, I'm nuts. |

I have an original 'original' with snaps and love it. In fact I'm wearing it right now. Great kilt.

You can't wear them without a belt.
