I have met the guy(robert) and he's a super nice guy. makes a very nice kilt, very well made.
as good as if not a bit better than the utilikilt.
I like the way his fasten with belts(straps)
I am going to meet him sat 24th jan, to see his leather kilt close up. if it is as nice as it looks in the pix he sent me and on his site, I will buy one, says I can have it in a week, as for bear kilts, I have been keeping my eye on them for a while, he is going to offer a kilt with a hem soon, whereas now they have a fringe, I'm waiting for the hemed one...how's it going bear??

    No go Phil,
I tried the hem and the pleats wouldn't sit flat no matter what I did. I posted about it on the Bravehearts Forum a while back.
I'm sticking with fringes until I can make a hem that will lie flat.

I was supposed to meet robert in Toronto today but had a problem with my car, so he came the extra 50-60km to my house.
    (nice of him I think)
he had on his leather "Rkilt", I had seen photos of it, but wanted to see it close up in person before I put down the cash for it.
it's every bit as nice as the photos robert sent to me, and that are on his website. www.rkilts.com
so he measured me, talked to me about how he is going to make it, custom ordered a few thing different from the one he had on,ie pockets to fit MY cell phone (mobile) and the addition and deletion of 1 or 2 other things. mine will be the first available leather "Rkilt" in the world. his being the proto type. mine will be numbered, number 1,
I ordered the black one, also comes in brown, olive and others too. I can NOT wait , this will be the longest week of my life.
    anyway I'll keep you posted.

I just posted this message to Tom at Tom's Cafe.

    Tom,
I just made arrangements with Robert Pel (Kanuckca) of Rkilts to bring you your kilt.
I'll ship the pinstripe kilt to him tomorrow after I finish it tonight. He will bring it to NY for you. This will lessen shipping costs for me and avoid whatever "brokerage" fees the shipping companies charge for you.
I'd like to thank him in public for doing this. His actions are truly with the spirit of the community of kilts.
He was more than happy to do it; he was excited to do it!
    Well done Robert!

    Thank you Bear,
I will do my best to make sure it arrives in the right hands or rather body... Hopefully I won't have problems this week when I cross the border.
I'll let you know what happens and I'll see if I can get some pics too.
    Robert

OOooo my first posting! I am the proud owner of 3 leather Rkilts - black, brown and green. All are superb and smart enough to wear to work too. Got a few strange looks from clients but they seem to be getting used to seeing me in any one of them. Now...do I order the burgundy as well? Decisions decisions....

    Cheers
