Review: AmeriKilt Kahki

I think a very reasonable alternative to the Amerikilt is the Alphakilt...I posted pics of mine a couple of weeks ago. Pleats are sewn and very secure. Wrinkle-resistant, too, which is a big bonus.

I don't know... that inside edge of the pleat not being sewn in would trouble my mind. I know Ron said it's ok, and I trust him and Carbomb on that. I'll still stick with my BK canvases, the kakhi in this case sense that's the color being talked about, but I do realize that they are different kinds of kilts. Thanks all for these wonderful reviews; they are very helpful.

As an update on my earlier post I was able to have my Amerikilt altered to fit my smaller waist. I love my Amerikilt Tiger strip camo. It's weight is great for warmer weather. Recently as posted before I obtained a Buzz Kidder canvas kilt in kaki. I love it! It's not been to cold this winter in Virginia but one brisk morning (20 degrees F) I wore it to work and was toasty. As Ted said, they are indeed different kilts. I enjoy both and have had no problems with either of them.

Glad you were able to get that adjusted, Mael Coluim . I keep thinking I would like a zebra paterned kilt... perhaps the tiger striped camo like you have. Right now, I am holding off on any more kilts until i figure out which tartans I would like. I'm not too worried about the cost issue, sometimes you can just pull it all together and squeeze some blood out of the old turnip. I'm just kind of overwelmed by all the tartans and figuring out which ones i like.
I'm sure I'll get a few more casuals before I go for the tank.

You are right, Ted the choices can be overwhelming. I think though the camo tiger stripe is no longer offered. Have a good time thinking about the next kilt!

I bought my MARPAT AmeriKilt at the Celtic Cultural Alliance gathering, held at Stabler Arena last year. I primarily wear it for paintballing because...well...Black Watch wools are expensive to continuously replace.

I absolutely love it.

On the comment about the border stitching, it's a lot tougher than it looks. Where I play it's briars, thorns, thistles, roses, raspberry and a pluthora of shin-ripping foliage...yet the stitching has not torn - pulled and stretched? Yep...but not torn...

I will have to agree with druid. The AK stitching is tough, though I don't put mine through the rigors like paintballing would. I wear mine mostly to dinner, Oktoberfest, etc and the occasional hiking trip, and it is holding up quite well. I've washed mine about 4 times and the fabric is getting softer, with no signs of it starting to fray.

Oh, I've had my AK (Khaki) since June 07, and it is well worth the money.
