From what I understand, the advertised size is the smallest it will fit, so a 40 would fit 40 to 42. I've found with my standard and economy kilts that there is room to punch another hole on the straps and go a little smaller than the advertised size without having to move straps around.

I received my Heavyweight Kilt 2 days after ordering... Again, super speed from Jerry!
The quality is much higher than the 2 thriftys I'd previously gotten from him... As I have said before, I will be ordering from him again

Ditto on the Gordon modern in wool. I also like the green shadow tartan, but my clan colors would push me over the top.

Heavyweight is adequate for the money.

Much of what has been said about speed of delivery is absolutely true. I do a fair bit of online purchases out of the US and delivery cross-border into Canada can be at times a very long wait. However, my BW heavyweight arrived in less that a week from the time of the order confirmation.

As to the kilt itself, I was looking for something to wear while bashing about and not to worry about wrecking one of my better kilts. So for the money, it serves its purpose. The fabric 100% wool seems adequate, and the kilt is made in Pakistan according to the label, which explains in part the price. The dyes, however, seem a little off and the greens in the tartan are a little brighter than they should be. The straps are leather, to a point, but only half of the strap. The buckles are a little flimsy, but they work. The fit is a tad bit on the tight size, so you might want to consider going one size up.

On balance, it will be OK for knocking about in the back woods, but I wouldn't wear it to the Highland Ball.
