Should have been a kilt jacket...

... or do I just see kilt stuff everywhere I know that this clearly isn't traditional anyway, so I've posted it here in the modern section of the forum.

I found a jacket listed on eBay as "EMO BLACK MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE MILITARY PARADE JACKET" and I swear it would look better with a kilt than with p@nts. It is apparently based on the stage gear of a band called My Chemical Romance.

It is short waisted, has a military look, and even has a sporran cutaway. In pics of guys modelling it, when the jacket fits in the body it is way too short for pants. When the jacket reaches down to the pants waist, it is way too big in the body and the arms!

    What do you think?

Hmmm. With Polish boots, shako, and sabretache? Maybe if you're going for a 19th century Hussar uniform look?

Definitely NOT traditional, but I can TOTALLY see it with a kilt--even a traditional kilt! Just all the other accessories would have to be along the same vein or it would not work.

As EB said, "You wan't one don't you CMcG?... You do don't you? You know you want one!! G'waaaan!"

All I'm saying is WHEN you get this, you MUST post a picture!!

Yeah...my daughter and I were at an H&M this morning and saw a similar jacket and she suggested that it might make a good kilt jacket for me.
My reply was about the same: on a younger guy, fer sure...on fifty-somethin' me, not really.

Youth and sexy-stylish jackets are for the young.

Not with that bloody zipper...if it were truly double breasted...I could see it..
Would be nice for the scifi conventions...

Single breasted, pears (or lapets) instead of buttons, and hook and eyes up the front, worn with trews...... shades of the Lochaber Light Horse!

Love that jacket. It makes me think of Hamlet, though

Hrm, wonder if I could pull that off...

It is certainly not traditional, but it could work if you were trying for a non traditional look. As part of the total look, you would have to factor in the zipper, which screams informal, at least to me. It would really work well for a steam punk look. I might have worn that 40 years ago.

Looking at it again, it kind of reminds me of a marching band uniform...and I agree it gives a youthful "punk" look to it.

Could the zipper be removed and replaced with a button-type closure?
