A tartan design for Harley davidson
The Harley Davidson tartan?? i created this in a graphics program back in 1998 and thought about trying to market the idea to the big cheeses at Harley Davidson I know I posted this yesterday but if seemed to disappear. Anyone have any connections with making one of these for the biker types. I think it would catch on if it looked good. Maybe have a nice leather bar & shield logo attached to the lower left front.

By the way....the image is hosted on my website. www.azhighlandcruisers.com

My PERSONAL opinion... a bit too much white. Makes it look like a "dress tartan" which are more "feminine". I'd stick with the black and gold and thinner white stripes.
Good luck! I think it would DEFINITELY catch on as MANY of my customers are Bikers!

Someone posted a reply before the thread disappered that said H-D already has a tartan. I like the color combo, but, as I said yesterday, I'd rather see it in a symetrical pattern.

I think it was Matt Newsome who posted this link to the Harley Davidson tartan.
I am easily moved for sympathy for dogs, far more so than for humans, because dogs do not understand. There is no way to explain that you will return, that the vet will make it all better, that they cannot go shooting today because that is not what today is about. They cannot work out that their misery is finite and will some time end, and so their misery is magnified.

Since I work in a dealership I sometimes have access to Harley execs. I talked to several of them during the 100th Anniversary in 2003 about a H-D tartan and pointed out that there were a fair number of kilted men in Milwaukee for the party. I don't think my comments had any effect, but in the dealers clothing ordering catalog for the 2007 model year there is a Black and Orange shirt that is advertised as Harley-Davidsons newly registered Tartan. Unfortunately the picture was too small to get a good idea of what the Tartan looks like and the size of the sett for the shirt would be way too small to make a decent looking kilt. I've been trying to find more information but that's all I have for now.

P.S. The Tartan Authority sample looks much darker than what I saw in the catalog but I couldn't get a larger view of it for some reason.

Somone also linked up some pictures of apparel in the tartan, I think it was Sciuropterus.

I like the design, but I agree with RockyR...too much white.

I like it!
I've often thought I'd like to find a tartan in the colours of the BC Lions football team (orange, black, white). This would work very well. In fact, to kill two birds with one stone, if I had that tartan in a kilt, I could ride my Harley to the Lions games. The only drawback is...I don't have a Harley. More like a 20 year old Honda Shadow. But I'm still learning.
I honestly think I'd be inclined to get something like that if it was ever produced and the timing was right financially.

Gotta be tought to deal with those three colors in a tartan. My alma mater Oregon State University (same colors to work with) just came up with a tartan last fall. Think they went with too much orange.
If I were gonna do a tartan with those three colors would think it best as mostly black with just a tiny bit of orange and white.
A Harley tartan, if widely recognized by Harley riders, might help cement the macho image of kilted men even more.
