Turnabout, a visiting Scots opinion of my Amerikilt

So I've hiked out to the Horseshoe Bend overlook 1100 feet above the Colorado River. I'm wearing my new Amerikilt tiger stripe camo.

A couple hikes in after me. Turns out they're from Glasgow, Scotland. The lady is intrigued by my new kilt. First asking me if its some kid of tartan. Then asking why I choose to wear a kilt. Then where such a kilt comes from.

All questions very sincere and polite. Explained about non-traditional kilts. She liked it. Her husband was hanging over the cliff photographing the bend in the river. When he finished he took a couple pics of me with my camera and I took one of them together cliffside.

A nice interchange over all...but still ironic that a lady from Glasgow was scratching her head over an AmeriKilt.

Sounds like a lovely hike, I'd love to do it.

Isn't it nice when you get sincere questions from intelligent people?

    It makes it all worthwhile!

I agree Graham, it is all to easy to be defensive with people. Genuine interest makes for wonderful conversations.
