| | | Type of Sporran To Go with a Buzz Kidder Khaki Canvas Kilt?
* Picture removed. *
This is the type of sporran I usually wear with my Buzz Kidder khaki canvas kilt; I also have a black sporran just like that one.
I'm wondering if I should be using something different; maybe something without the tassels, or one of the soft body sporrans?
Or, is this style of sporran fine with this style of kilt?
Thank you. Just in case it comes up, those are walking staffs I cut to carve one of these days, and the thing on my apron is a swatch of my tartan that I had just recieved and excitedly pinned on my kilt.

I think you're fine with what you have Ted. But, if I might suggest, why not try a Buzz Kidder sporran with your Buzz Kidder kilt? I've got one of the canvas kilts (although I haven't worn it in quite a while), and I always wore my Buzz Kidder with it. It's a nice casual sporran for a nice casual kilt.

That's a pretty good idea. In fact, Matt Newsome sells the Buzz Kidder sporrans through the Scottish Tartans Museum, as well as these kilts.
I've made a few changes to the apron, but I prefer this style of cotton kilt.
I could also make a canvas sporran, if that's what it would be called.

I agree with the above. I think you have a really good casual look going there. And I really like the belt!

That belt is an AWP oil tanned work belt from... Lowes if I remember. I like it too. Thanks.

I have no problem with the sporran, but in my opinion, since you are wearing a black belt, then it would better to wear the black sporran. Of course, if you were wearing a brown belt, then the brown sporran.

Um... As far as I know that is a dark brown belt.
The sporran is one of the red-ish brown sporrans from Stillwater with a brown sporran strap. The strap and sporran are not matching shades of brown as far as I know.
* I just remembered that I may have been wearing dark brown stockings rather than Lewis hose, but I prefer the Lewis hose. *
The hoes are the brown Lewis hose from the STM; they're kind of rusty brown from what I understand.

Still thinking about sporrans.
I have almost completed the alterations on this kilt. The apron has the shape more like a regular kilt apron now.
What was concerning me is that this is a contemporary kilt, or I think of it as an American style kilt, and I wasn't sure if I should be using the typical sporran that is intended for a Scottish kilt.
I guess it's fine, but I might make a canvas sporran shaped somewhat like this one.
I guess the Lewis hose are fine to, but I have some thick grey knee high socks that seem to work alright.
I tried using this kilt with my corduroy kilt jacket and it didn't go over too well.
I'll have this kilt back up and working soon.

My Buzz Kidder is my 'working' kilt. So I usually wear my SWK nylon sporran.

Ya, I've worn mine while doing light gardening, and used a tool pouch and belt as a gardening sporran.
I may very well try to find some black canvas or olive drab and make a canvas pouch in the general shape of a sporran. Or even mix leather and canvas.
