calculating fabric weight?

I tried to find the answer here, as I remember seeing it before, but couldn't. So, when determining the weight of fabric does the weight (i.e. 13 oz., 16 oz., etc) reflect a single width or double width? If two yards of double width material weighs 2 lbs. does that make it 16 oz or 8 oz?

The weight of the fabric is based on a piece that is 60" wide by 1 yard long. 60" wide is double wide, so it is approx. 2 square yards.

So, would a piece of fabric that is 60" wide and 2 yards long that weighs 2 lbs be 16oz weight or 8 oz?

Yes 2 yards, 60" wide will weight 2 lbs if it is 16 oz.
