Converting a sport coat?

My wife and I plan on reneiwing our wedding vows on our anniversary. I plan on wearing my Mac Newsome supplied Macneill of Barra, old and ancient colors kilt. It's just going to be a simple ceremony with the family there and not really formal. I'd like to wear an arguile jacket with the kilt, but things are just a little tight financially right now. I seem to remember someone posted a thread about converting a sport coat. I've tried to search for it, but have so far come up empty. Anyone remember the thread, or have instructions on how to do this?

Jerry,

I had mine done by a tailor (but spent a lot of time reviewing Alan's excellent site bubba linked above).

Here's the thread I started about mine, it has a before and after picture

Michael Steinrok used by same tailor with a navy blue blazer and buttons from Three Feathers Pewter www.threefeatherspewter.com
It came out really nice (Michael if you're out there do you have any pics?) and could very easily be dressed up or down. I think the key thing is to choose the right coat to modify, so carefully study Alan's instructions.

Good Luck

After you modify your jacket, be sure to post some pictures!
